Ouigo to Launch New High-Speed Rail Link Between Bordeaux and Lyon by 2027

France is preparing to launch a new high-speed rail service that will connect two of the country’s most underrated yet spectacular destinations — Bordeaux and Lyon. Set for a 2027 debut, the route will link two cities known for their rich history, world-class gastronomy and distinctive architecture.

The new line will not operate as a direct service. Instead, it will include six stops, including one near Paris, creating a wider network for travellers across western and central France. The planned stops are:

• Bordeaux–Saint-Jean (southwest France)
• Angoulême (between Bordeaux and Poitiers)
• Poitiers (western France)
• Saint-Pierre-des-Corps (near Tours, Loire Valley)
• Massy TGV (south of Paris)
• Lyon–Part-Dieu (central Lyon)

The service is expected to attract significant demand, with an estimated one million passengers projected in its first year of operation.

A major benefit for travellers will be the pricing. Operated under SNCF’s low-cost Ouigo brand, the service will offer highly affordable fares — around USD 22, with most tickets priced below USD 35. The new route combines speed, accessibility and value, making cross-country travel between Bordeaux and Lyon easier and more budget-friendly than ever.
