A private island off the coast of Brittany has been listed for sale, offering buyers six hectares of land, five beaches and two houses for nearly €2.5 million.
The island, known as Île de Riec’h, sits off the coast of France’s Morbihan department and has entered the market with an asking price of €2,494,800.
Despite its remote setting, the island combines private beaches, existing residential buildings and direct access to mainland transport links.
Six Hectares of Private Land With Five Beaches
The island covers approximately six hectares and consists largely of natural green space supporting local wildlife and biodiversity.
Its most notable feature may be its five private beaches, described as having different characteristics, including several long stretches of sand.
The island lies close to the small island of Saint-Cado, famous across Brittany for its distinctive blue-shuttered cottage that frequently appears in postcards, paintings and photography.
Two Existing Houses Included in Sale
The property includes two residential buildings.
The main house measures around 140 square metres and includes five bedrooms decorated in a traditional French style.
A second smaller caretaker’s house is also located on the island.
According to the listing, both properties currently carry an energy rating of G – the lowest possible efficiency classification under French standards.
How Accessible Is the Island?
Access to Île de Riec’h is exclusively by boat, although a landing jetty has already been constructed directly in front of the main house.
Travel times remain relatively manageable despite the island setting.
Reaching the nearest railway station in Auray takes roughly three hours, while high-speed rail connections from there can reach Paris in approximately two and a half hours.
Growing Demand for Private Islands
Private islands remain one of the rarest segments of the European luxury property market.
With existing housing stock, established access infrastructure and multiple private beaches, Île de Riec’h enters the market as one of the more unusual residential listings currently available along the French coastline.
