Unyoked and Forestry England Partner to Bring Off-Grid Cabins to England’s Forests

The stillness of the woods is about to become more accessible than ever. Unyoked, the pioneering Australian nature start-up behind the global off-grid cabin movement, has announced a landmark 10-year partnership with Forestry England that will introduce minimalist forest cabins across the country — helping more people unplug, recharge, and reconnect with nature.

Starting in early 2026, the initiative will debut with five secluded cabins tucked deep within Forestry England woodlands, each designed for one or two guests seeking solitude and stillness. Over the following year, 25 additional cabins will open across five forest sites, with more to follow as part of a long-term rollout. Every cabin will be positioned off the beaten path, far from traditional facilities, to offer complete immersion in the natural landscape.

Nature as a Modern Medicine

The partnership comes at a time when stress and burnout are reaching critical levels. Research by Mental Health UK found that 91% of adults have experienced high or extreme pressure in the past year. Backed by growing scientific evidence, time in nature is now recognized as one of the most effective ways to restore balance — on par with mindfulness, meditation, or cognitive therapies.

A 2024 study by Unyoked and AllTrails found that guests who spent time in Unyoked cabins experienced up to a 50% greater improvement in wellbeing than those who tried other interventions such as exercise or art therapy.

“This partnership is a major step in our mission to make nature a habitual, accessible part of everyday life,” says Cam Grant, co-founder of Unyoked. “We’re creating special places where people can disconnect from the noise, reconnect with themselves, and experience the profound benefits of the forest firsthand.”

A New Chapter for Forestry England

For Forestry England, the collaboration marks an evolution in its century-long mission to protect public woodlands and connect people with nature.

“We are thrilled to partner with Unyoked on this exciting initiative,” says Mike Seddon, Chief Executive of Forestry England. “These low-impact, off-grid cabins will give people the chance to experience our forests in a completely new way — slowly, deeply, and sustainably.”

Each Unyoked cabin will be solar-powered and use composting systems to minimize its environmental footprint. Designed with Unyoked’s signature minimalist aesthetic, the cabins will blend into the landscape, offering essentials for comfort while maintaining a sense of wild simplicity. Guests will find sustainable, locally sourced amenities, ensuring a close connection between the stay, the surroundings, and the local community.

Towards a National Movement for Nature

The partnership is not just about accommodation — it’s about building a movement. By opening secluded corners of England’s forests for mindful stays, Unyoked and Forestry England aim to embed nature into everyday life, encouraging more people to care for and protect these ecosystems.

As Unyoked expands from private land partnerships into public woodland, this initiative represents a pivotal step in making the benefits of wild nature accessible, inclusive, and restorative.
