Sofitel London St James has unveiled six newly redesigned signature suites by acclaimed Paris-based design studio Pierre-Yves Rochon (PYR), reimagining the hotel’s heritage with bold colour, tactile luxury, and a nod to the creative energy of 1970s London.
Four Prestige Suites are now open and available to book, with the remaining two Flagship Suites – Suite 70 and The Opera Suite – set to debut in January 2026. Together, they mark a new era for the hotel’s interiors, uniting French elegance with London’s cosmopolitan spirit.
The Prestige Suites are defined by rich Klein blue and Wimbledon green palettes, layered with original modern artworks, curated libraries, and PYR’s signature tactile detailing – from padded suede walls and leather headboards to bespoke marble furniture and mirrored partitions. Corner suites boast sweeping views over Pall Mall and Waterloo Place, framing the city as part of the design narrative.
When the Flagship Suites launch next year, they will complete the collection with distinct personalities. Suite 70 will celebrate the vibrant irreverence of the 1970s, complete with a vintage Arne Jacobsen Egg chair, record player with a curated vinyl collection, and bold orange tones. By contrast, The Opera Suite, the hotel’s largest, will evoke a serene atmosphere inspired by London’s private members’ clubs, with pale oak, natural textures, and a private in-suite bar.
Every suite combines heritage craftsmanship with modern functionality, featuring smart lighting controls, wireless bedside charging, and Diptyque amenities in marble bathrooms, along with Nespresso machines and Smeg kettles.
“This is more than a redesign—it is a reinvention,” said Marie-Paule Nowlis, General Manager of Sofitel London St James. “With Pierre-Yves Rochon, we have created suites that embody French sophistication and heritage while expressing the cosmopolitan spirit of London today. Each suite is a destination in its own right.”
Pierre-Yves Rochon added: “I wanted the suites to bring back the thrill of the seventies—its freedom, its energy, its rebellion. You come in, and for a moment, the space feels suspended, like an echo of London’s creative pulse.”
Suites are available to book now, with rates starting from £1,500 per night.
