When the Stars Guide Your Passport: the Rise of Spellbounding – Mystic Travel

What if a map didn’t choose your next destination, but by the stars? A growing number of travellers, especially Gen Z and Millennials, are letting astrology, tarot and spiritual energy shape where they go. It’s a trend that travel analysts are calling “spellbounding” — a new form of cosmic tourism driven by the search for meaning, balance and self-discovery.

As trust in institutions fades, younger generations are looking inward and upward. A 2025 Belief in Britain survey found that 64 percent of Gen Z identify as “spiritual,” compared to just 35 percent of Baby Boomers. This spiritual mindset is spilling into travel choices. Nearly half of travellers say they would change their plans if a spiritual advisor warned it wasn’t the right time to go, while 43 percent would reconsider based on a horoscope.

Astrology is now a travel tool. The practice of astrocartography maps planetary alignments at birth to identify destinations that amplify certain energies such as love, growth or transformation. Travellers use it to pick places that feel aligned with their personal goals, turning trip planning into a form of celestial navigation.

Across the globe, spiritual tourism is expanding fast. In India, bookings to yoga and meditation destinations rose by 60 percent between 2024 and 2025, driven largely by younger travellers. Brands are responding, with up to 30 percent of experiential marketing budgets now focused on spiritual or purpose-led travel.

Hotels and tour operators are embracing the shift too. In London, The Standard offers a “Zodiac Escape” stay curated by psychic intuitive Chris Corsini, featuring in-room gifts and digital tarot forecasts. Elsewhere, luxury retreats are timing itineraries around full moons, planetary transits and celestial events. Booking.com reports that 60 percent of travellers are now interested in dark-sky experiences such as stargazing or “moon bathing.”

For Gen Z and Millennials, travel has become an act of self-expression and introspection. It’s less about luxury and more about alignment — a journey toward purpose as much as a destination.

The question isn’t just where to go next, but when the universe says it’s the right time to go.
