easyJet to Open New Base in Marrakech as Part of Major Expansion in Morocco

easyJet has announced ambitious expansion plans in Morocco with the launch of a new base in Marrakech, set to open in spring 2026. The new base will host three aircraft and marks a key milestone in the airline’s long-term partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office.

The agreement will allow easyJet to offer a record 4 million seats in its first year of operation, strengthening the carrier’s position as the #2 airline in Marrakech and reinforcing its footprint in the Moroccan market. The permanent, year-round base is expected to create around 100 direct jobs and thousands of indirect positions.

As part of this growth strategy, easyJet has also announced the launch of four new routes to Morocco, bringing the total number of easyJet routes to the country to 46. From next summer, new connections will link Hamburg, Lille, and Strasbourg to Marrakech, while a new Geneva–Tangier route will be introduced exclusively by easyJet. Several existing routes will also see increased frequencies, and the expansion will be mirrored in the easyJet holidays offer.

easyJet has been operating in Morocco since 2006, flying nearly 20 million passengers to and from the country over two decades. The airline currently serves five Moroccan airports – Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira, and Tangier – with 42 routes as of winter 2025.

Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, commented:

“I am delighted to be announcing this historic partnership and the establishment of a new base in Marrakech. There is no doubt Morocco is a key market for easyJet: we are the largest carrier to Morocco from the UK and from Switzerland, Morocco is our fastest growing market outside Europe and a major destination for our easyJet holidays customers. With this new development and the launch of our base in Marrakech we will expand our leisure and business offer to Morocco from more destinations across Europe than ever before.”

The newly announced routes will operate as follows:

  • Hamburg – Marrakech: from 1 May 2026, twice weekly (Tuesday, Friday)

  • Lille – Marrakech: from 3 May 2026, twice weekly (Wednesday, Sunday)

  • Strasbourg – Marrakech: from 3 May 2026, twice weekly (Thursday, Sunday)

  • Geneva – Tangier: from 30 March 2026, twice weekly (Monday, Thursday)

With the opening of its Marrakech base, easyJet aims to unlock capacity and offer new destinations from constrained airports across Europe, further solidifying its position as one of the leading low-cost carriers in North Africa.
