Turkish Airlines to Launch Flights to Timisoara

Turkish Airlines (THY) announced on Tuesday that it will launch scheduled flights to Timisoara, Romania, underscoring the carrier’s ongoing global expansion strategy.

The decision was disclosed through Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), with the airline noting that the new services are subject to market conditions and operational facilities.

The route announcements come alongside Turkish Airlines’ ambitious growth plan, supported by a landmark aircraft order from Boeing. On September 26, THY Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Professor Ahmet Bolat, highlighted the importance of the fleet renewal.

“The addition of new generation Boeing aircraft to our fleet will undoubtedly be one of the important components of our 2033 vision, which aims to reach a fleet of 800 aircraft,” Bolat said.

Under the agreement with Boeing, Turkish Airlines will acquire 75 widebody aircraft—50 firm orders and 25 options for B787-9 and B787-10 Dreamliners—with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2034.

The new routes to Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus, coupled with the significant fleet expansion, reflect Turkish Airlines’ determination to strengthen its global network and position itself as a leading international carrier in the next decade.
