Turkish Airlines Passengers Face Baggage Delays at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport Amid Security Protocols

Travelers arriving in St. Petersburg on Turkish Airlines flights have encountered significant baggage delays, prompting swift action by Pulkovo Airport‘s staff to resolve the issue.

The airport’s operator, Northern Capital Gateway (NCG), confirmed that an emergency task force has been mobilized to manage the situation. Personnel from across the airport — including office staff — have been reassigned to assist Lost & Found operations, which are now functioning around the clock.

“Incoming baggage is sorted by flight, tagged with numbered security seals, and documented accordingly,” the airport stated, adding that claims are being processed on an accelerated schedule and 24/7 delivery and pickup services are in place for affected passengers.

The baggage disruption, first reported on July 25, was attributed by Turkish Airlines to enhanced security protocols and refueling procedures on inbound flights. The airline apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized that passengers who did not receive their luggage should immediately file a Lost & Found claim at the airport and retain all baggage tags and boarding documents.

Passengers are also encouraged to request expense compensation through the airline’s official website under the “Delayed Baggage” section.

As of now, Pulkovo Airport is urging travelers to use designated hotline numbers for real-time assistance and continues working in coordination with Turkish Airlines to reunite passengers with their luggage as quickly as possible.
