Warsaw’s vibrant Elektrownia Powiśle Food Hall has been named one of Europe’s most exciting culinary destinations by National Geographic Traveller UK, as part of its freshly released European Cities Collection 2025. Selected alongside five other standout food markets across the continent, Elektrownia Powiśle earned the title of “Best Food Hall in Poland”, confirming its status as a key player in Warsaw’s thriving gastronomic scene.
The guide highlights six food halls that best reflect the culinary character of their respective cities — places where local traditions meet global flavors and where the food experience is as much about atmosphere and community as it is about taste.
The full list of featured food halls includes:
Markthalle Neun (Berlin, Germany)
Mercato Centrale (Rome, Italy)
Hietalahden Kauppahalli (Helsinki, Finland)
Cambridge Street Collective (Sheffield, UK)
Im Viadukt Market Hall (Zurich, Switzerland)
Elektrownia Powiśle Food Hall (Warsaw, Poland)
Set inside a revitalized power plant on the Vistula River, Elektrownia Powiśle has become a culinary and social anchor in the Powiśle district, a neighborhood previously recognized by The Guardian as one of the world’s trendiest urban areas. Editors at National Geographic Traveller praised the food hall’s diverse lineup of 17 culinary concepts, offering everything from Asian street food to Georgian khinkali, Italian pasta, and gourmet burgers.
The publication describes Elektrownia Powiśle as “a perfect expression of Warsaw’s modern culinary energy — young, international, and deeply rooted in place.” It is both a community hub and a flavor destination, where locals, tourists, and foodies mingle under industrial-chic ceilings and neon-lit signs.
Beyond the food, the space regularly hosts cultural events, pop-up markets, and DJ sets — making it more than just a place to eat, but a place to gather, create, and celebrate.
