Turkish Airlines Opens Pet Lounge at Istanbul Airport

Turkish Airlines has unveiled a dedicated Pet Lounge at Istanbul Airport (IST), designed to provide comfort and care for pets traveling with the airline. The lounge, which spans 250 square meters, can accommodate up to 78 animals at a time, including 32 dogs, 36 cats, and 10 birds.

Features of the Pet Lounge

The Pet Lounge offers a spacious environment for animals, complete with an outdoor terrace for relaxation. In addition, a 24/7 veterinary service is available to ensure the well-being of furry and feathered passengers.

This facility caters specifically to pets traveling in the cargo hold, as Turkish Airlines allows passengers to bring small animals onboard only if their total weight, including the carrier, does not exceed 8 kilograms. Pets exceeding this weight are transported in the cargo hold, and the lounge serves as a comfortable waiting area for them before their flight.

A Commitment to Animal Welfare

Abdulkerim Çay, Deputy General Manager of Turkish Airlines, emphasized the airline’s dedication to animal passengers, saying:
“Our animal friends will have a pleasant time before their flight.”

This innovative initiative highlights Turkish Airlines’ commitment to providing top-tier services for passengers traveling with pets, ensuring a stress-free experience for both owners and their animals.

The Pet Lounge is part of the airline’s broader effort to enhance the travel experience for all passengers, including their beloved companions.
