Turkish Airlines announced significant operational growth in 2024, showcasing expanded capacity, fleet size, and network reach. According to a filing with Borsa Istanbul on December 10, the airline’s seating capacity rose by 13.4 percent year-on-year, reaching 100,899 seats as of the end of November.
The flag carrier’s fleet expanded to include 489 aircraft, up from 437 a year earlier, while the number of destinations in its global network increased from 345 to 351, further solidifying its position as a leader in international aviation.
Passenger numbers reflected steady growth. The airline carried 50.24 million international passengers in the first 11 months of 2024, representing a 2.6 percent year-on-year increase. On domestic routes, Turkish Airlines served 28.47 million passengers, marking a 0.6 percent rise compared to the same period in 2023. The airline’s total passenger load factor was 82.3 percent, slightly below the 82.8 percent recorded a year earlier.
Operational activity also saw a modest increase, with the total number of landings rising by 0.8 percent year-on-year to 482,836 during the 11-month period.
Cargo operations demonstrated remarkable growth. Turkish Airlines handled 1.83 million tons of cargo and mail, reflecting a 22.1 percent increase compared to the previous year, highlighting the carrier’s strengthened role in global logistics.
With these developments, Turkish Airlines continues to expand its footprint in the competitive aviation sector, leveraging its growing fleet and network to meet increasing demand for both passenger and cargo services.
