Brussels Airlines has soared to the top of the global airline rankings, being named the best all-round airline in the world by AirHelp, an international organization specializing in passenger rights and compensation claims. This marks a major milestone for the Belgian airline, which rose from 12th place to claim the top spot.
The achievement ends Qatar Airways’ six-year reign as the world’s leading airline. AirHelp’s ranking evaluates 109 airlines based on customer service, punctuality, and passenger feedback about food, comfort, and the quality of onboard service. Data was gathered from passengers in 54 countries, reflecting their most recent flight experiences over the past year.
Strong Performance Across the Board
Brussels Airlines earned an impressive overall score of 8.12 out of 10. The airline excelled particularly in claim resolution, scoring 8.7, while also achieving 7.8 for punctuality and 7.9 for customer opinions.
“We are immensely proud of this recognition, which reflects our commitment to delivering an outstanding experience for our passengers,” a spokesperson for Brussels Airlines said.
Top Performers and Laggards
The top five rankings also included United Airlines (3rd), American Airlines (4th), and Icelandic carrier Play (5th). Meanwhile, Tunisair, Tunisia’s national airline, was ranked the worst in the survey. Other poorly rated airlines include Poland’s Buzz, Bulgaria Air, and Turkey’s Pegasus Airlines.
Airport Rankings Leave Room for Improvement
While Brussels Airlines celebrated its win, Belgium’s airports didn’t fare as well in AirHelp’s airport rankings. Brussels Airport ranked 114th out of 239 airports, while Brussels-South Charleroi came in at 158th.
AirHelp’s rankings continue to provide passengers with valuable insights into global travel experiences, emphasizing the importance of reliability, comfort, and customer service. For Brussels Airlines, this recognition cements its position as a leading player in the aviation industry.
