Brussels Airlines Expands Sub-Saharan Africa Network for Summer 2025

Brussels Airlines has unveiled its long-haul network for the summer 2025 season, announcing a record-breaking capacity to sub-Saharan Africa with 56 weekly flights, a 10% increase compared to summer 2024. This growth is supported by the addition of an 11th long-haul aircraft to the fleet in June 2025, enhancing connectivity to one of the airline’s most vital markets.

Expanded Frequencies and Enhanced Routes

Key highlights of the summer 2025 schedule include:

  • Daily Flights: Routes to Nairobi (Kenya) and Accra (Ghana) will be upgraded to daily services.
  • Increased Frequencies: Destinations such as Banjul (Gambia), Freetown (Sierra Leone), and Conakry (Guinea) will receive more flights.
  • Direct Services: Dakar (Senegal) and Abidjan (Ivory Coast) will see an increase in direct flights, reducing reliance on triangular connections.
  • Daily Non-Stop Flights to Kinshasa: Starting March 2025, Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) will transition to daily non-stop flights, replacing the current mix of direct and stopover operations.

Enhancing Comfort and Sustainability

The airline emphasizes the advantages of direct flights, particularly for Kinshasa. “A non-stop flight is not only more comfortable for our passengers but also reduces the risk of delays and improves operational efficiency,” a Brussels Airlines representative stated. Direct routes are also more sustainable, reflecting the airline’s commitment to minimizing its environmental impact.

Fleet Growth and Cabin Revamp

As part of its long-term strategy, Brussels Airlines plans to expand its long-haul fleet to 13 aircraft by 2027. The carrier also aims to debut a completely revamped cabin interior, featuring updated Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class, ensuring a modern and competitive passenger experience.

Strengthening Sub-Saharan Ties

Brussels Airlines has long positioned itself as a key player in connecting Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, serving both business and leisure travelers. With the expanded summer 2025 schedule, the airline reinforces its dedication to fostering ties between these regions, offering more options and convenience for passengers.

The carrier’s long-haul portfolio also includes connections to North America, with flights to New York and Washington DC complementing its robust African network.

Brussels Airlines’ enhanced summer schedule positions the airline as a leading choice for travelers between Europe and Africa, with improved frequency, comfort, and sustainability at the forefront.
