SAS Launches Flights to Nuuk in Greenland

SAS introduces a new direct route connecting Copenhagen to Nuuk, Greenland, starting June 27, 2025. This highly anticipated addition comes as Nuuk’s international airport is set to open later this year, marking SAS’ return to Greenland after more than 20 years. The new route will enhance travel opportunities to this remote Arctic destination, strengthening connections between Greenland and SAS destinations across the globe.

Strengthening Arctic Connectivity

The launch of the new route aligns with SAS’ broader goal of enhancing Arctic travel. SAS already has a strong partnership with Air Greenland, enabling seamless connections between Greenland and the airline’s broader network. Through this partnership, travelers can access SAS’ extensive global routes, making it easier for international visitors to explore Greenland and for Greenlanders to travel abroad.

Anko van der Werff, President and CEO of SAS, shared his excitement: “We’re thrilled to enhance connectivity between Greenland, Scandinavia, and destinations worldwide through our SkyTeam alliance. This new route meets the rising demand for unique, adventurous travel experiences, while reinforcing Copenhagen’s position as a key hub for Scandinavian connections worldwide.”

Meeting the Demand for Adventure Travel

Operating during the summer peak season, the new route will make Greenland more accessible to global travelers, highlighting Nuuk’s unique appeal. Greenland, known for its untouched landscapes and rich cultural heritage, was recently named one of National Geographic’s “25 Best Places to Travel in 2025.” By improving direct access, SAS is poised to position Greenland as an emerging destination for adventure tourism and eco-travel.

With this new route, SAS continues to strengthen its network and offer passengers the opportunity to explore one of the world’s most pristine and adventurous destinations.
