Tampa International Airport will suspend operations starting at 9 a.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday in anticipation of Hurricane Milton’s arrival. This is the second time the airport has closed in less than two weeks, following its shutdown ahead of Hurricane Helene on Sept. 26.
St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport has also announced it will suspend operations after its final flight on Tuesday, with closures continuing through Wednesday and Thursday. Most commercial flights from this airport are operated by Allegiant Air.
Other major airports across Florida, while not yet announcing closures, are closely monitoring the storm and may make adjustments as conditions evolve.
As of Monday afternoon, Hurricane Milton remains a powerful Category 4 storm with sustained winds of 155 mph. The National Hurricane Center expects the storm to land on Florida’s west coast late Wednesday.
Cruise lines and airports continue monitoring the situation and may make further updates as Hurricane Milton progresses.
