Cruise Lines Adjust Caribbean and Bermuda Itineraries as Hurricane Milton Approaches

As Hurricane Milton intensifies and heads toward Florida, several major cruise lines have altered their itineraries to avoid the storm’s path. The hurricane, currently a Category 4 but expected to strengthen into a Category 5, is projected to hit Florida’s west coast on Wednesday night before crossing the state and heading into the Atlantic Ocean, putting Bermuda at risk as well. In response, cruise operators are making significant changes to their scheduled routes.

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line has already adjusted its plans for the Carnival Pride, which is set for a seven-day roundtrip cruise to Bermuda departing from Baltimore on Oct. 6. The ship will arrive in Bermuda a day earlier than originally planned, but it will still remain at the island for three days.

Several other Carnival itineraries are being monitored for potential changes, including:

  • Carnival Paradise (departing from Tampa)
  • Carnival Valor and Carnival Liberty (departing from New Orleans)
  • Carnival Elation (departing from Jacksonville)
  • Carnival Glory (departing from Port Canaveral)
  • Carnival Sunrise (departing from Miami)

Royal Caribbean International

Royal Caribbean has also announced itinerary changes for several ships:

  • The Grandeur of the Seas, originally set to sail a five-day Western Caribbean cruise out of Tampa on Oct. 7, will instead head to the Eastern Caribbean, with a stop in Nassau on Oct. 10, skipping planned visits to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico.
  • The Independence of the Seas will replace its Western Caribbean route out of Miami on Oct. 5, swapping its stop in Cozumel for a visit to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, on Oct. 8.
  • The Harmony of the Seas will now spend Oct. 8 at sea, skip its Roatan stop, and instead visit Costa Maya on Oct. 9.
  • The Symphony of the Seas sailing from Cape Liberty, New Jersey, on Oct. 6 will bypass stops at Port Canaveral, Perfect Day at CocoCay, and Nassau in favor of Puerto Plata and Labadee, Haiti, on Oct. 9 and 10.
  • The Wonder of the Seas, sailing from Port Canaveral on Oct. 6, will shift its visit to Cozumel to Oct. 11, while skipping Roatan and Costa Maya. It will also call at Falmouth, Jamaica, on Oct. 9.
  • The Utopia of the Seas, on a four-day cruise from Port Canaveral on Oct. 7, will swap its scheduled visits, now stopping at Perfect Day at CocoCay on Oct. 8 and Nassau on Oct. 10.

Celebrity Cruises

The Celebrity Reflection will skip its scheduled stop in Key West on Oct. 8 during a four-day cruise from Fort Lauderdale and will instead visit Nassau.

MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises is in the process of finalizing its itinerary changes and will provide updates soon.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) stated that none of its ships are currently in the areas expected to be impacted by Hurricane Milton.
