Myanmar Airways will resume flights to Russia on the Yangon-Mandalay-Novosibirsk route starting October 9. The airline is also considering launching flights to Moscow in 2025.
“One year ago, on September 6, we launched our northernmost route, which is the city of Novosibirsk. This year’s program begins on October 9. The route will operate from Novosibirsk to Mandalay to Yangon twice a week. Departures from Novosibirsk are scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays at 00:10, and from Myanmar on Tuesdays and Saturdays,” said Alexandra Shakhnazarova, the airline’s representative in Russia.
The flights will be operated by Airbus A319/A320 aircraft, offering 105 seats. According to Shakhnazarova, the average load factor for flights during last winter’s season was between 30-40%. Between September and April, the airline transported over 2,500 passengers between Russia and Myanmar.
“The company is certainly planning to expand to Moscow. We’re currently discussing a potential start in 2025, but we cannot provide a specific date yet. In any case, the airline is very pleased to have the opportunity to fly to Novosibirsk at the moment, and an expansion of the route network is being planned,” the airline representative added.
