IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to expand its presence in Egypt with the launch of the country’s first Holiday Inn Express. The hotel operator has signed an agreement with Egyptian developer Arkan Palm, with the opening slated for 2027.
Holiday Inn Express West Cairo 205 will be situated in the western part of Cairo, in close proximity to popular attractions such as the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The hotel will offer comfortable rooms and high-speed Wi-Fi, along with restaurants, shops, and a fitness center. For business travelers, there will be two conference rooms available.
The company also noted that in February 2022, Arkan Palm constructed the Crowne Plaza in West Cairo, which became one of the flagship properties of the brand in the MEA region. Currently, the developer has several projects in the pipeline, including the InterContinental West Cairo 205 with 250 rooms, scheduled to open in 2028, and the voco West Cairo 205 Suites with 140 keys, set to open in 2026.
IHG currently owns seven hotels across four brands in Egypt, including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, and Staybridge Suites. The operator plans to open an additional 19 hotels across the country within the next five years.
