IHG Expands Italy Portfolio With Four New Hotels Across Milan, Turin And Apulia

IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its presence in Italy with the signing of four new hotels, taking its Italian portfolio to more than 50 open and pipeline properties as the company continues investing in one of Europe’s fastest-growing hospitality markets.

The latest agreements include a dual-branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites development in Milan, Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello and Garner Hotel Turin Porta Nuova. Together, the projects strengthen IHG’s presence across luxury, upscale, extended-stay and midscale segments while introducing new brands to key Italian destinations.

“Reaching this milestone of over 50 open and pipeline hotels reflects the incredible momentum we have in Italy and the growing confidence owners have in our brands and enterprise,” said Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Dual-Branded Hotel Planned For Milan

The largest project is the conversion of an existing property in Milan’s rapidly developing NoLo district into a dual-branded Crowne Plaza Milan NoLo and Staybridge Suites Milan NoLo. Scheduled to open in January 2027, the development will feature 167 Crowne Plaza guestrooms and 96 Staybridge Suites apartments.

Owned by Reinvest, the hotel will introduce the Staybridge Suites brand to Milan and become IHG’s first dual-branded property in Italy. Facilities will include multiple restaurants and bars, a swimming pool, fitness centre and more than 1,000 square metres of meeting space.

Luxury Lifestyle Brand Expands To Apulia

IHG has also signed Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello, the brand’s first property in the Apulia region. The 129-room new-build hotel, owned by AG Group, is scheduled to open in 2028 near the UNESCO World Heritage-listed trulli town of Alberobello.

The hotel will feature a spa, fitness centre and congress facilities while drawing design inspiration from the region’s distinctive architecture and local culture.

Garner Brand Continues Italian Expansion

IHG will also introduce Garner Hotel Turin Porta Nuova through the conversion of a 57-room hotel opposite Turin’s main railway station. Expected to open in mid-2027, the project marks the second Garner hotel signed in Italy and the company’s first partnership with Italian operator Gruppo Stay.

The new agreements build on IHG’s continued expansion across Italy, where the group currently operates 32 hotels under brands including Six Senses, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, voco, Crowne Plaza, Garner, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, with another 20 properties in development.

Recent additions to the pipeline include the first Kimpton hotel in Sicily and the opening of Garner Hotel Rome Aurelia, reinforcing Italy’s importance within IHG’s long-term European growth strategy.
