The Government Commission on Legislative Activities has supported the initiative of senators aimed at developing wine tourism in Russia, as announced by one of the authors of the document, the First Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council, Andrei Yatskin.
In his opinion, wine tourism is currently one of the most promising directions in the Rostov region, where 18 wineries are located. According to him, Krasnodar Krai is also rich in vineyards, with wineries of both a new wave and imperial heritage equally oriented towards modern global practices.
Yatskin expressed hope that the senators’ initiative will be supported by the parliament in the spring session of 2024.
The draft law was introduced to the State Duma in May of last year.
As noted in the explanatory note to the document, global experience shows that wine tourism in Russia is a separate and highly in-demand field of activity.
