Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called for the restoration of direct flights to Kathmandu, which ceased in 2004.
“We must launch the process of restoring direct flights. There are no problems on our part,” the prime minister said.
He added that Nepal, unlike some Western countries, is ready to receive Russian planes without any questions.
The possibility of resuming direct flights with Laos is being studied by Rosaviation.
“The tourist flow from Russia to Laos this year exceeded the pre-pandemic values of 2019, and there is potential for further growth thanks to the visa-free regime. Also, together with the Federal Air Transport Agency, the possibility of resuming direct flights is being explored. In addition, according to the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Laos, Vladimir Kalinin, a number of banks in Laos have begun to accept cards from the Russian Mir payment system,” the press service of the Russian Ministry of Construction said in a statement.
