Aeroflot to Purchase Aircraft from Lessors

Aeroflot will receive at least 130 billion of the 300 billion rubles allocated by the state for the purchase of aircraft from lessors.

70 billion rubles of this amount, the company has already spent on the purchase of 10 Boeing 777s, which were under financial leasing (not prohibited by sanctions). For the remaining 60 billion rubles it is possible to buy another 21 aircraft, analysts of the My Investments telegram channel believe.

The fact that the government allocated 300 billion rubles for the purchase of aircraft from foreign lessors, the head of the Ministry of Transport Vitaly Savelyev said the day before.

The residual value of more than 500 aircraft from foreign lessors that remained in Russia is estimated at $20 billion, Savelyev said in March last year.

After the start of the war in Ukraine, Western countries stopped deliveries of civil aircraft and spare parts to the Russian Federation and obliged their lessors to return liners already leased from Russia. By decision of the Russian authorities, the airlines did not return the aircraft – instead, they transferred them to the domestic registry and continued to operate.
