First Hilton Garden Inn to Open in South Korea

Hilton have recently announced the signing of a management agreement with JOON TOWER for Hilton Garden Inn Seoul Gangnam, which represents the launch of Hilton’s focused service brand in South Korea. Managed by Hilton, the hotel is targeted for opening in the summer of 2021.

“We are pleased to partner with JOON TOWER on the opening of the first Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Seoul. This is testament to the strength of our organic growth strategy and a great addition to our existing brand portfolio, which comprises Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Conrad Hotels & Resorts, as well as the upcoming launch of our DoubleTree by Hilton brand with the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Seoul Pangyo next year,” said Matt Fry, senior vice president, development, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “In 2019, South Korea saw a record number of approximately 17.5 million inbound visitors, and we are confident South Korea will once again be at the top of travelers’ minds as a tourist destination once the pandemic eases. The entry of this focused service brand in the city will enable us to meet the diverse needs of both domestic and international travelers in Seoul when the borders open again.”

When it opens, Hilton Garden Inn Seoul Gangnam will provide an upscale and affordable accommodation option to travelers through its 208 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant and bar, meeting facilities, an outdoor pool, a fitness room, and The Shop, where snacks, local beverages and self-service coffee are available 24 hours a day.

“I would like to express my gratitude towards Hilton, who is respected across the global hospitality industry for its strong reputation and renowned levels of service, for this partnership. We have had an open and transparent discussion leading up to the signing of Hilton Garden Inn Seoul Gangnam and are confident that building on our relationship to date, we will be able to successfully open the hotel this summer and deliver great experiences to our guests,” said Woo-Joon Dan, the owner of Hilton Garden Inn Seoul Gangnam.

Located in the center of Gangnam Business District (GBD), south of the Han River in Seoul, Hilton Garden Inn Seoul Gangnam is 30 kilometers from Gimpo Airport and 65 kilometers from Incheon International Airport. Renowned as one of the country’s main tourist areas, Gangnam features trendy restaurants, upscale and designer-brand shopping malls, as well as vibrant nightlife options. Close to key cultural, entertainment, shopping and commercial areas, the hotel will be optimally situated for guests to enjoy popular tourist attractions such as COEX mall, Bongeunsa Temple, and Seolleung and Jeongneung Royal Tombs, a UNESCO world heritage site. In addition, GBD is a major office district in the city and a base for many major corporations, particularly in the technology, insurance and manufacturing sectors. The hotel’s central location in GBD will enable it to serve as a convenient base for business travelers.

“With nearly 900 hotels operating around the globe and more than 300 hotels in our development pipeline, Hilton Garden Inn is everywhere travelers want to be, and we are thrilled to welcome this brand into South Korea,” said Alan Roberts, global head, Hilton Garden Inn. “Hilton Garden Inn’s warm service, affordable accommodations and value-added amenities make us a top choice for both business and leisure travelers alike, and we look forward to welcoming guests in Seoul this summer.”
