The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) announced that Delta Airlines will move its operations into Terminal 2 effective Tuesday, June 23, 2020. This move will allow for demolition of the current Delta ticket counter area and the construction of the final phase of Harvey Milk Terminal 1, the North Check-In Lobby, slated to open in mid-2023.
On June 23, 2020, Delta will begin checking in passengers from ticket counter positions in SFO Terminal 2, adjacent to a Starbucks coffee shop. Delta flights will depart from gates in Boarding Areas C and D, both accessible from the security checkpoint in Terminal 2. Delta customers have already been using the security checkpoint in Terminal 2 since mid-March, when security checkpoints were consolidated due to reduced passenger activity.
With the closure of Delta’s current ticket counter location, passenger movement between Harvey Milk Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 will be limited during construction activity. Passengers are encouraged to use AirTrain to transfer between terminals or walk into the Domestic Hourly Parking Garage. Harvey Milk Terminal 1 can be accessed via Tunnel B on Level 1 of the garage, and Terminal 2 can be accessed via Tunnel C or Tunnel D on Level 1 of the garage.
