AEGEAN Updates Summer 2020 Network

Following the latest announcement of both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (May 30th) and Civil Aviation Authority (June 1st), for the safe restoration of transport connectivity of Greece, as framed based on the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) list of airports, AEGEAN is announcing further adjustments in its network for June, July and August 2020.

From June 15th onwards, the frequencies of domestic flights to and from all airports in Greece, as well as international destinations and frequencies to and from Athens and Thessaloniki, will be gradually increasing. As of July 1st, and subject to further ease of travel restrictions, the summer network, both in terms of frequencies and number of destinations, will be resumed. Passengers are kindly informed that flights to and from UK, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy are subject to further adjustments, should existing NOTAMs and restrictions prevail beyond June 15th.

The entire 31 destinations domestic network that recurrently operated throughout the lockdown, will be also increased progressively, in order to facilitate the connectivity of island destinations with the international network. By July 15th, AEGEAN will fly to 42 international destinations from Athens and 7 destinations from Thessaloniki. By June 15th, it will be further announced the direct international network from AEGEAN’s hubs in Heraklion, Rhodes and Chania with flights starting early in July.

AEGEAN expects, that by July 15th, about 1,000 flights will be operated per week, while by the end of August the number of operating flights, will reach 1,600. As a result, the total network at its peak, is estimated to be smaller by 50% from the initial planning before the Covid-19 pandemic. It should be noted that, as precautionary measures and travel restrictions continue to be under constant change, the flight schedule might be affected.

To facilitate passenger flexibility, under such a shifting environment, AEGEAN is offering, for all new bookings until June 15th, for the entire network and in all fare categories (with fares for domestic tickets starting from €29 and flight dates from July 1st), unlimited ticket changes with no rebooking fees and a checked baggage up to 23kg. Additionally, AEGEAN, through “Hold my Booking” service, enables passengers to keep the selected flight on hold, at the current available price for 14 days, for both domestic and international flights. The cost is 3€ for domestic flights and 6€ for international flights per passenger (valid for bookings until June 15th).

By undertaking such initiatives, along with all necessary health and safety precautionary measures, already applied in every stage of the journey, AEGEAN adapts rapidly to a still changing environment and is offering its passengers increased flexibility, enhanced safety and confidence, so that they can travel again.
