According to the latest figures, in March 2018 90.2 million passengers were transported on the infrastructure of Russian Railways, which corresponds to the figure in March 2017. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 82.53 million, a decline of 1.1% compared to March 2017, while long-distance passengers 7.64 million were carried, a jump of 14.3% during the same month the year before.
Passenger turnover in March 2018 amounted to 8 billion passenger-kilometres, 3.1% more than in March 2017. Suburban passenger turnover amounted to 2.5 billion passenger-km, a decline of 1.3%, while long-distance passenger turnover was up to 5.6 billion pass-km, an increase of 5.2%.
In January-March 2018, a total of 252 million passengers travelled, 3.2% more than during January-March 2017. Long-distance passenger numbers were up to 22.1 million, an increase of 8.8%, while suburban passengers amounted to 229.9 million, an increase of 2.7%.
Passenger turnover on the network of Russian Railways since the beginning of 2018 increased by 3.4% compared to last year and amounted to 23.9 billion pass-km. Suburban passenger turnover in January-March amounted to 7 billion passenger-km, a slight increase of 1.1%, while long-distance passenger turnover increased to 16.9 billion pass-km, up 4.3%.
In March 2018, the Moscow Central Ring (MCR) transported 10.2 million passengers, 11% more than in March 2017. Since the beginning of 2018, a total of 28.6 million passengers were carried, 23.3% more than in the same month last year.
More than 166 million passengers have used the services of the Moscow Central Ring since the operation was launched on 10 September 2016. The MCC carried a record number of passengers on 14 December 2017, when it transported 431,300 people.
