Portugal to Build Viva Mundo - €450 Million Football Theme Park Ahead of 2030 World Cup

Portugal is set to build a €450 million football-themed amusement park, with the new Viva Mundo attraction scheduled to open just before the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The 80-hectare resort will be located near Santarém, around 40 minutes from Lisbon, and is expected to become one of Europe’s largest football entertainment destinations.

Opening Ahead of the 2030 World Cup

Developed by Zul Virani and JFA Group, Viva Mundo is scheduled to open on 29 April 2030, shortly before the FIFA World Cup kicks off across Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

The developers estimate the project will attract up to 1.5 million visitors annually and create around 1,000 jobs, making it a significant new tourism attraction for central Portugal.

Six Football-Themed Zones

The park will feature six themed areas exploring different aspects of football culture, including the sport’s history, traditions, matchday atmosphere and culinary experiences.

At the heart of the complex will be Football World, an immersive zone dedicated entirely to the game.

Visitors will have access to 28 attractions, including a 4D cinema, roller coasters, water rides, live entertainment venues and a spherical multimedia attraction.

Designed for All Football Fans

According to the project concept, Viva Mundo will not focus on individual football clubs or rivalries. Instead, the attraction aims to celebrate football as a global sport and bring supporters together regardless of which teams they follow.

Hotel Included in the Development

The project also includes the construction of a 300-room hotel within the resort, allowing visitors to stay on-site while exploring the attractions.

With an estimated investment of €450 million, Viva Mundo is expected to become one of Portugal’s largest leisure developments ahead of the 2030 tournament.

2030 FIFA World Cup Hosts

Spain, Portugal and Morocco will jointly host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. In addition, three opening-centenary matches are scheduled to be played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, marking 100 years since the inaugural FIFA World Cup in 1930.
