Tourists planning to fly to or from Portugal late next week have been warned about potential “multiple flight cancellations” due to planned strikes at airports across the country.
The Portuguese Transport Workers’ Union, Sttamp, has scheduled strike actions from 12:00 AM on August 31, 2024, until midnight on September 1, 2024. The union anticipates that the airports in the country’s two largest cities, Porto and Lisbon, will be the most affected.
Passengers flying with airlines such as EasyJet, TAP Air Portugal, British Airways, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Azores Airlines S.A., and Vueling Airlines, which operate through these airports, face the highest risk of disruptions. The union advises passengers with travel plans during the strike days to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.
