Mews Launches New Financial Tools to Help Hotels Increase Revenue

Mews, the hospitality operating system used by more than 15,000 properties worldwide, has unveiled three new financial management features designed to help hotels increase revenue, automate payment processes, and improve cash flow throughout the guest journey.

The latest additions include Recurring Payments, the expansion of Multicurrency to the United States and Canada, and the launch of Accounts Receivable. Together, the features aim to reduce manual administrative work while helping hotels secure payments before arrival, generate additional revenue during stays, and accelerate invoice collection after guests depart.

Recurring Payments Simplify Long-Stay Billing

Available globally, Recurring Payments is designed for hotels offering extended stays, co-living accommodation, coworking spaces, or membership-based services where guests are billed on a recurring basis.

Hotels can create a payment schedule once, after which Mews automatically processes payments according to the agreed timetable without requiring manual intervention.

More than 100 properties participated in the pilot programme, creating over 16,000 recurring payment plans.

According to Mews, The Student Hotel reduced administrative work by approximately four hours per week while achieving a 98% on-time payment collection rate after implementing the feature.

Multicurrency Expansion Creates Additional Revenue

Mews has also expanded its Multicurrency solution to the United States and Canada for online payments, following its successful rollout across Europe.

The feature allows international guests to pay in their home currency while enabling hotels to retain a share of the foreign exchange conversion fee—revenue that traditionally goes to banks or payment providers.

Since launching in Europe 14 months ago, nearly 5,000 hotels have generated a combined €1.55 million in additional revenue through Multicurrency.

For hotels using the feature for at least three months, Mews says more than half have generated enough additional income to offset between 2% and 10% of their Mews subscription costs. Properties with higher volumes of international transactions have, in some cases, earned enough revenue to cover the full cost of their subscription.

Support for in-person Multicurrency payments in the United States and Canada is expected to follow in a future release.

Accounts Receivable Speeds Up Cash Collection

The third new feature, Accounts Receivable, focuses on helping hotels collect outstanding payments more quickly after guests have checked out.

Mews found that the median time between guest checkout and invoice issuance is currently seven to eight days, delaying payment collection before the invoicing process has even begun.

Accounts Receivable automates invoice generation, payment reminders, reconciliation, and collection directly within the Mews platform. Finance teams gain real-time visibility into paid, pending, and overdue invoices, helping improve cash flow and reduce manual administration.

The feature is currently available for properties operating in euro-denominated markets, with support for additional currencies planned as part of a phased rollout through 2027.

CX Living, one of the early adopters, reported that its finance team previously spent around seven working days each month manually issuing invoices and following up on payments. Following implementation, those processes have become fully automated.

Building a Financial Operating System for Hotels

Mews says the new releases form part of its broader strategy to evolve beyond a traditional property management platform into a comprehensive financial operating system for the hospitality industry.

By combining payment automation, international payment optimization, and invoice management within a single connected platform, the company aims to help hotels reduce operational complexity, improve revenue capture, and strengthen cash flow throughout the entire guest lifecycle.
