Dakota Hotels has officially opened Dakota Manchester Airport, a £55 million development that the hotel brand describes as the UK’s first luxury airport hotel. The new property strengthens Dakota’s presence in Greater Manchester, following the success of its city-centre hotel on Ducie Street.
Located on a three-acre site at the Mix Manchester development, the 154-room hotel has been designed to offer a premium hospitality experience for both business and leisure travellers using Manchester Airport.
Luxury Accommodation Close to the Airport
Designed by KPP Architects, Dakota Manchester Airport features 154 guest rooms alongside 130 on-site parking spaces and a dedicated shuttle service providing convenient transfers to and from the airport’s terminals.
The hotel aims to redefine the traditional airport stay by combining contemporary luxury with Dakota’s signature service and design.
Dining and Premium Facilities
The ground floor is home to Dakota’s signature bar and brasserie-style grill, offering all-day dining for hotel guests and local visitors.
Additional facilities include an outdoor Cigar Terrace and Humidor, private dining rooms, a dedicated Champagne Room and flexible event spaces suitable for corporate functions, celebrations and private gatherings.
Part of the Mix Manchester Development
Dakota Manchester Airport forms part of the wider Mix Manchester project, a major regeneration scheme being delivered through a joint venture between Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate, Manchester Airports Group (MAG), Beijing Construction Engineering Group International (BCEGI) and the Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF).
The development is planned as the UK’s first airport-based science, innovation and advanced manufacturing campus, eventually delivering around two million square feet of commercial space alongside hotels, leisure facilities and public amenities.
Expanding Dakota’s UK Portfolio
Commenting on the opening, Group Operations Director Matt Townley said the aim was to create more than a conventional airport hotel by offering guests a place to relax and enjoy high-quality hospitality before or after their journey.
The opening represents another step in Dakota Hotels’ expansion strategy and further enhances Manchester Airport’s accommodation offering as passenger numbers continue to grow. With luxury facilities, convenient transport links and its location within one of the UK’s largest regeneration projects, Dakota Manchester Airport is positioned to become a key hospitality destination for travellers and local visitors alike.
