Warsaw Airport Starts Tender for New PPS-5C Apron

Polish Airports has launched a long-awaited tender for the construction of a new PPS-5C apron at Warsaw Chopin Airport, one of the main projects in the airport’s modernisation programme. The work is designed to add parking stands for aircraft and improve operations at Poland’s biggest airport.

The new apron is intended to strengthen capacity at the airport before the opening of CPK, the planned central transport hub for Poland. The investment is part of wider efforts to keep traffic moving efficiently as demand grows and the airport prepares for a longer transition period.

The tender marks a key step in the upgrade of Warsaw Chopin Airport, which handles the country’s largest volume of air traffic. Polish Airports said the project will support operational efficiency at the site and help prepare the airport for future changes in Poland’s aviation network.

The PPS-5C apron is expected to be one of the most important elements of the modernisation plan. By increasing the number of parking positions, it should give airlines more flexibility during peak periods and reduce pressure on existing stands.

Warsaw Chopin Airport has been under steady pressure as passenger demand has increased in recent years. As the country’s main gateway, it must balance short-term operational needs with longer-term plans linked to the development of new infrastructure elsewhere in the network.

The tender is also likely to be closely watched by airlines and aviation contractors working in Poland. Large airport projects can affect stand availability, taxiway use and turnaround times, all of which influence punctuality and airport performance.
