Warsaw Modlin Sees LOT and Enter Air Overnight Landings

Warsaw Modlin Airport welcomed two unexpected overnight arrivals after scheduled maintenance works temporarily closed Warsaw Chopin Airport, highlighting the growing role of the regional airport in supporting air traffic around the Polish capital.

During the night of July 3–4, an Enter Air flight from Ibiza (ENT7922) and a LOT Polish Airlines service from Dalaman (LO6542) were diverted to Warsaw Modlin after Warsaw Chopin Airport suspended flight operations for planned infrastructure works.

Runway Maintenance Prompted Diversions

Warsaw Chopin Airport was closed between 11:37 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. to allow maintenance at the intersection of its runways. As a result, the Enter Air flight landed at Warsaw Modlin at 1:15 a.m., while the LOT service from the Turkish resort of Dalaman arrived at 11:50 p.m.

Although diversions to Modlin are relatively uncommon, the airport regularly serves as an alternative airport for Warsaw when operational disruptions occur at the capital’s main gateway.

Record Passenger Growth Continues

The overnight diversions came as Warsaw Modlin Airport continues to post exceptional traffic growth. June was another record-breaking month for the airport, both in passenger numbers and aircraft movements.

During the month, the airport handled 391,553 passengers, representing a 167.7% increase compared with June last year. Aircraft movements also reached a historic monthly high, with 2,818 take-offs and landings—158% more than a year earlier.

Best First Half Since the Pandemic

The airport said the first six months of 2026 marked its strongest first-half performance since the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing the rapid recovery that began earlier this year.

Strong demand from low-cost airlines, expanding route networks and rising leisure travel have helped position Warsaw Modlin among Poland’s fastest-growing airports. The latest figures reinforce the airport’s increasing importance within the Warsaw metropolitan area as passenger traffic continues to recover and expand.
