Flights and Tourist Attractions Halted in Sanya Ahead of Storm

Authorities in the Chinese resort city of Sanya have suspended tourist activities and issued weather warnings as a tropical storm approaches Hainan Island, bringing strong winds, heavy rain and hazardous sea conditions. Flights, rail services and ferry operations across Hainan have also been disrupted as precautionary measures are put in place.

Local meteorological authorities have issued a yellow weather warning and urged residents and visitors to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. Tourists have been strongly advised not to swim in the sea, remain close to their hotels and closely follow instructions from local authorities.

Beaches and Attractions Closed

From 12:00 p.m. on July 3, Sanya suspended all tourism activities related to the sea, mountains and aerial attractions. Popular beaches, including Dadonghai and Yalong Bay, have been closed, while access to the well-known Wuzhizhou and Xidao islands has been suspended.

All water sports, diving excursions, sightseeing cruises and other marine tourism activities have also been cancelled until weather conditions improve.

Travel Disruptions Across Hainan

The approaching storm has prompted widespread transport disruptions across Hainan. Authorities have suspended flights, rail services and ferry operations as the system moves toward the island, with additional delays and cancellations possible depending on weather conditions.

Visitors currently in Sanya are advised to remain indoors during periods of severe weather, avoid coastal areas and monitor updates from airlines, hotels and local authorities before making travel plans.
