Athens has claimed the title of Europe’s best bar for 2026, with Line taking the top spot in the latest edition of the Europe’s 50 Best Bars ranking. The venue, known for its innovative cocktails and sustainability-focused philosophy, leads a list that also highlights Greece’s growing influence on Europe’s bar scene.
Located in a quiet residential neighbourhood of the Greek capital, Line occupies a former art warehouse away from Athens’ traditional nightlife districts. The judges praised the bar for combining creative mixology with environmentally conscious practices.
Sustainability at the Heart of the Experience
Line has built its reputation around reducing waste by repurposing ingredients and by-products that would normally be discarded. Signature creations include the “Deceptive Margarita,” made using ketchup, mustard and potato water, as well as the bar’s distinctive Why-Ins cocktails, which are produced from a variety of fruits instead of grapes.
In addition to being named Europe’s Best Bar, Line also received the title of Best Bar in Greece for 2026.
Greece Impresses in European Rankings
Greece enjoyed a particularly strong performance in this year’s rankings, with five Athens bars securing places in the top 50.
The Bar in Front of the Bar finished second overall, while Barro Negro ranked 13th, Baba Au Rum placed 14th and The Clumsies came in at number 30.
