ANNUA has expanded its Mediterranean hospitality portfolio with the opening of Gran Hotel Margalida, a 29-room luxury boutique hotel in the cliffside village of Banyalbufar on Mallorca‘s west coast. Perched between the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana and the Mediterranean Sea, the property introduces the brand’s first fully integrated wellness concept alongside locally inspired dining and curated island experiences.
Occupying a carefully restored historic building, Gran Hotel Margalida has been redesigned by interior designer Virginia Nieto in collaboration with Spanish architects Álvaro Onieva and Álvaro Mesonero Romanos. The renovation preserves the property’s architectural heritage while introducing contemporary Mediterranean interiors defined by natural materials, handcrafted finishes, and a bespoke sun-washed yellow palette created exclusively for the hotel.
Each of the hotel’s 29 ocean-facing rooms and suites has been designed to maximize natural light and sea views, featuring neutral tones, natural stone, woven fibers, artisanal furnishings, Loewe candles, and Aesop amenities. Traditional Mallorcan craftsmanship is showcased throughout the property with bespoke furniture, locally blown glass, handcrafted ceramics, Telas de Llengües textiles, and custom lighting made from handwoven plant fibers.
First ANNUA Wellness Destination
Gran Hotel Margalida marks the debut of ANNUA’s first comprehensive wellness concept, The Baths of Margalida, which places wellbeing at the center of the guest experience. Overlooking the Mediterranean, the spa combines therapeutic treatments, movement, and personalized wellness programs designed to promote long-term health and relaxation.
Facilities include a panoramic fitness studio equipped with Technogym equipment, a dedicated reformer Pilates studio, and an outdoor yoga platform with sweeping coastal views. Guests can choose from signature rituals inspired by the surrounding landscape, Natura Bissé facial treatments, deep tissue massage, hot stone therapy, lymphatic drainage, and Ayurvedic treatments. The hotel also plans to host visiting wellness specialists and practitioners throughout the year.
Seasonal Mallorcan Cuisine
The culinary program is led by Mallorcan-born Executive Chef Joan Escalas, who previously worked at one of the island’s two Michelin-starred restaurants. The hotel’s signature restaurant showcases seasonal Mallorcan cuisine prepared with ingredients sourced from local farmers, fishermen, and producers across the Serra de Tramuntana.
The menu features dishes including bluefin tuna with trempó, grilled sea bass with pil pil sauce, grilled dentex with beurre blanc, confit Mallorcan black pork, and desserts highlighting regional flavors. The wine list emphasizes indigenous Mallorcan grape varieties alongside labels from mainland Spain, Burgundy, Champagne, and other renowned wine regions.
Guests can also enjoy fresh oysters and seafood at The Oyster Bar or relaxed lunches and cocktails beside the pool overlooking the Mediterranean.
Immersive Island Experiences
Gran Hotel Margalida offers a curated collection of experiences designed to connect visitors with Mallorca’s culture and natural beauty. Activities include private sailing excursions, sunset cruises, guided hikes through the Serra de Tramuntana, olive oil tastings at the historic Son Moragues estate, vineyard picnics, outdoor cinema evenings, and artisan workshops covering pottery, ceramics, painting, and leather craftsmanship.
The hotel’s panoramic terraces and landscaped courtyards also provide a setting for weddings, private celebrations, and events for up to 150 guests.
With its emphasis on thoughtful design, holistic wellness, local gastronomy, and authentic cultural experiences, Gran Hotel Margalida strengthens ANNUA’s growing collection of luxury properties across Mallorca, Menorca, and Lanzarote while offering travelers an intimate retreat overlooking one of the island’s most spectacular coastlines.
