KG Resort Opens in Faroe Islands With Nature-Led Hospitality

KG has officially opened in Klaksvík, introducing a new nature-inspired resort to the Faroe Islands that combines adventure travel, wellness, and Nordic design. The property welcomed its first guests on July 1, 2026, becoming one of the newest additions to the Nordic Hotels & Resorts collection.

Located in Klaksvík, the Faroe Islands’ second-largest town and an important maritime hub, the 83-room resort has been designed as both a gateway for exploring the archipelago and a destination focused on relaxation and wellbeing.

Positioned beside the town’s working harbor, KG offers convenient access to boat excursions, hiking trails, and other outdoor experiences that have helped make the Faroe Islands an increasingly popular destination for nature-based tourism.

The hotel’s architecture combines wood, glass, and concrete, while the interiors feature extensive use of oak throughout guest rooms and public spaces. The accommodation includes standard rooms, two suites, family rooms, accessible rooms, and connecting rooms to cater to a variety of travelers. A central atrium with seating steps serves as the heart of the building.

The resort’s name reflects Klaksvík’s maritime heritage. “KG” is the official port designation used by fishing vessels registered in the town, paying tribute to the community’s long-standing connection with the sea.

Food and beverage experiences are centered around Sand, the hotel’s restaurant and café concept. Sand Restaurant highlights Faroese seafood and grilled specialties while offering panoramic waterfront views. Throughout the day, Sand Café & Bar transitions from a casual café into an evening venue serving handcrafted cocktails and light dining.

Wellness facilities are located at Alda Spa, named after the Faroese word for “wave.” The spa includes a Finnish sauna, steam bath, relaxation areas, and two massage treatment rooms. A second development phase, scheduled to open on October 1, 2026, will add an outdoor pool, an outdoor sauna, and a pier designed for winter bathing.

KG also targets the meetings and events market with three meeting rooms and a flexible event venue capable of hosting up to 500 guests. Its waterfront location and modern facilities position the resort as a venue for conferences, corporate gatherings, and private events in the Faroe Islands.

The opening reflects growing demand for experience-led travel, where accommodation serves as both a destination and a launch point for outdoor adventures. By combining wellness facilities, locally inspired dining, and direct access to the Faroe Islands’ dramatic landscapes, KG aims to attract both leisure travelers and business visitors.

With its debut, KG becomes part of Nordic Hotels & Resorts, the largest collection of independent hotels in the Nordic region, further expanding the group’s portfolio of distinctive destinations across Northern Europe.
