Emirates Issues New DXB Travel Advice Ahead of Busy Summer Holiday Season

Emirates has issued a travel warning ahead of the busy summer holiday season, urging passengers flying from Dubai International Airport to allow extra time at the airport as demand surges in the coming weeks.

The airline said it expects particularly high passenger volumes at DXB as schools in Dubai break for summer at the beginning of July, triggering one of the busiest annual travel periods for the airport and the UAE’s flagship carrier.

To help travellers avoid delays and move more smoothly through Terminal 3, Emirates has released a series of recommendations covering arrival times, check-in options, baggage drop services and airport transport.

Passengers Urged to Arrive Early at DXB

Emirates has advised customers to arrive at Dubai International Airport well ahead of departure as congestion is expected to increase during the summer travel peak.

The airline recommends that passengers travelling from Terminal 3 arrive at least three hours before their scheduled flight, although some guidance has encouraged travellers to allow even more time depending on the day and expected airport traffic.

Passengers are also being reminded to reach their boarding gate at least one hour before departure, particularly as immigration and security processing may take longer than usual during the peak period.

Biometric Smart Gates Can Speed Up the Journey

Travellers are being encouraged to take advantage of DXB’s biometric travel system to move more quickly through airport formalities.

Emirates passengers can check in up to two days before departure and register for the biometric path through the airline’s mobile app.

The process takes only a few minutes and allows eligible travellers to use smart gates and facial recognition technology at various points in the airport journey.

Early City Check-In Available Before Departure

For passengers who want to avoid carrying luggage to the airport on the day of travel, Emirates has highlighted its early baggage drop services in Dubai.

Travellers can check in luggage between four and 24 hours before departure at the airline’s City Check-In and Travel Store in DIFC, which will operate from 8am until midnight from July 1.

Additional early check-in options are also available at Ajman Central Bus Terminal, giving passengers greater flexibility before heading to the airport.

Home Luggage Collection Offers Extra Convenience

Emirates is also promoting its home baggage collection service, which allows customers to have their luggage picked up from their home, office or hotel up to 24 hours before departure.

The service is complimentary for First Class passengers and Platinum Skywards members, while similar arrangements are also available through Marhaba for other travellers.

The airline says the option can reduce stress at the airport and make journeys to DXB more convenient during the busy summer period.

Passengers Warned to Check Restricted Items

Emirates has reminded passengers to review its rules on restricted and prohibited items before travelling, including updated regulations relating to power banks and other portable electronic accessories.

Carrying prohibited items in hand luggage or checked baggage can lead to delays at security checkpoints and, in some cases, prevent passengers from boarding on time.

The airline is urging customers to check the latest guidance in advance to avoid disruption on the day of departure.

Dubai Metro Recommended to Avoid Road Traffic

With heavy traffic expected around DXB during the holiday rush, Emirates is advising travellers to consider using the Dubai Metro as an alternative to driving.

The Metro serves Terminal 3 directly and offers a convenient option for passengers looking to avoid congestion on the roads surrounding the airport.

Services currently operate from early morning until late at night, with extended hours on Fridays.

Airport Transfers Between Concourses Available

Once inside DXB, Emirates passengers can use several airport transfer services to move between terminals and concourses more easily.

A complimentary train connects Concourse B and Concourse A, while shuttle buses run every 20 minutes between Concourse A and Concourse C.

Dedicated airport buggies are also available. First Class passengers can request exclusive buggy services, while Dubai Airport buggies are offered free of charge to all travellers.

Summer Rush Set to Test Airport Capacity

Dubai International Airport remains one of the world’s busiest international travel hubs, and the coming summer holiday period is expected to place additional pressure on airport operations.

By urging passengers to plan ahead, use digital tools and make use of off-airport check-in services, Emirates is aiming to reduce bottlenecks and improve the customer experience during one of the most intense travel periods of the year.

For passengers departing from Dubai in the coming weeks, preparation and extra time are likely to be essential for a smoother journey through DXB.
