Emirates has updated its travel rules affecting passengers entering or transiting through the United Arab Emirates, introducing tighter restrictions for travelers who have recently visited several African countries.
The changes were announced as multiple Dubai aviation operators simultaneously refreshed travel guidance ahead of the busy summer travel period.
Emirates updated its advisory on 6 June, while flydubai published similar guidance on 2 June and Dubai Airports refreshed passenger notices on 7 June.
Travel Restrictions Introduced for Three Countries
Under the updated rules, Emirates says passengers who have recently been in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda or South Sudan may face restrictions when entering the UAE.
According to the airline, travelers who have visited these countries cannot enter the UAE unless they have spent more than 21 consecutive days outside those countries before arrival.
The updated measures apply both to passengers entering the UAE and, in some cases, travelers connecting through Dubai.
Transit Passengers Face Additional Checks
Emirates also reminded travelers that transit passengers remain responsible for meeting the entry requirements of their final destination.
This includes indirect routings where passengers connect through Dubai before continuing onward.
The airline warned that failing to meet destination entry conditions could result in denied boarding or travel disruption.
flydubai and Dubai Airports Publish Parallel Guidance
Low-cost carrier flydubai issued similar travel guidance several days earlier.
The airline advised customers to verify destination requirements directly through official government sources and public health authorities before departure.
Meanwhile, Dubai Airports updated passenger notices on 7 June, reinforcing advice for travelers to review entry requirements carefully before traveling.
