Royal Jordanian is preparing to expand its presence in Russia with plans to launch direct flights between Aqaba and Moscow, adding a new connection between Russia and Jordan’s Red Sea coastline.
The Jordanian flag carrier plans to operate the route between Aqaba and Moscow Domodedovo Airport twice weekly using Airbus A320neo aircraft, with ticket sales expected to begin soon.
Growing Demand Behind Route Expansion
The new Aqaba route follows continued growth in passenger demand between Russia and Jordan.
Royal Jordanian currently operates four weekly flights between Moscow Domodedovo and Amman during the summer 2026 schedule.
According to airport officials, passenger numbers on Jordan routes continue rising, with traffic between Domodedovo and Jordan increasing by 20% during the first four months of 2026.
Royal Jordanian remains the only airline currently operating scheduled services between Russia and Jordan.
Aqaba Adds New Leisure Option For Russian Travelers
The new flights will provide direct access to Aqaba, Jordan’s main Red Sea resort destination known for beaches, diving and year-round sunshine.
Airline executives also highlighted growing interest in broader tourism experiences across Jordan beyond traditional beach holidays.
These include adventure travel, cultural tourism and religious pilgrimage routes.
Jordan Promotes Visa-Free Travel And Tourism Growth
Jordan has increasingly targeted Russian travelers since introducing visa-free travel arrangements for Russian citizens in late 2025.
Tourism officials are promoting attractions including the 670-kilometre Jordan Trail, the desert landscapes of Wadi Rum, art galleries, food tourism and vineyard experiences.
Religious tourism also remains an important focus, with Jordan positioning itself as a major destination for Christian pilgrimage travel.
New Route Strengthens Middle East Connectivity
The addition of Aqaba services further strengthens air connectivity between Russia and the Middle East as airlines continue rebuilding international networks and responding to shifting travel demand.
For Russian travelers, the new flights create another direct leisure option without requiring connections through Amman.
