Delta Returns To Hong Kong With Daily Los Angeles Flights

Delta Air Lines has resumed direct passenger flights between Hong Kong and Los Angeles, restoring service to the city for the first time since the pandemic.

The airline launched daily flights between Hong Kong International Airport and Los Angeles on Monday, re-entering one of Asia’s most competitive long-haul markets despite higher fuel costs and ongoing operational pressures.

Daily Flights Operated With Airbus A350 Aircraft

Delta’s inaugural outbound flight, DL88, departed Hong Kong at 9:25am using an Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

The widebody aircraft is configured with 275 seats, including 40 Delta One suites featuring fully flat beds and sliding privacy doors.

The route reconnects Hong Kong with one of North America’s largest aviation hubs and strengthens transpacific capacity as airlines continue rebuilding Asian networks.

Delta Focused On Making Hong Kong Return Successful

Jeff Moomaw, Delta’s vice-president for Asia-Pacific, said the airline remains focused on establishing the route before considering further expansion.

“Our focus right now is making sure that this flight is a success,” Moomaw said.

He added that additional destinations could be evaluated in the future depending on market demand.

Competition Returns To Key Transpacific Market

Flight search data shows economy return fares on the new direct service currently cost approximately HK$11,770 (around US$1,500).

The flight time from Hong Kong to Los Angeles averages around 13 hours and 30 minutes.

The relaunch places Delta back into direct competition on one of Asia’s most important long-haul routes, where airlines continue rebuilding capacity after years of disruption.

Hong Kong Continues Rebuilding International Connectivity

The return of Delta adds further momentum to Hong Kong’s aviation recovery as airlines gradually restore international services.

Transpacific routes remain among the most strategically important for both business travel and premium leisure demand, making airline competition particularly intense on major US-Asia corridors.
