Disney Cruise Line was forced to end a sailing aboard its newest ship, Disney Adventure, after passengers were asked to disembark in Singapore due to a mechanical issue affecting one of the vessel’s engines.
The disruption affected a four-day cruise that departed Singapore on 7 May 2026.
Passengers Removed After One Night
Guests who boarded the Disney Adventure were informed on 8 May that the voyage could not continue following the discovery of a technical problem onboard.
Disney Cruise Line confirmed the cancellation in a statement issued to passengers.
“We deeply regret that we are unable to continue with your Disney Adventure experience from May 7-11, 2026,” the company said.
The cruise line did not publicly provide detailed information about the specific nature of the engine problem.
New Disney Ship Recently Entered Service
The Disney Adventure is one of the newest additions to Disney Cruise Line’s expanding fleet and began operations earlier this year.
The vessel accommodates approximately 6,700 passengers and forms part of Disney’s wider strategy to significantly increase its cruise business over the coming years.
Disney currently plans to expand its fleet from seven ships to 13 by 2031.
Sailing Operated Without Port Stops
The Disney Adventure’s short itineraries departing Singapore were designed as cruises around the Singapore Strait without scheduled port calls.
Following the early termination of the voyage, some passengers reportedly described the experience as a “cruise to nowhere” after spending only one night onboard before returning to port.
Expansion Plans Continue Despite Operational Challenges
Disney Cruise Line has been rapidly expanding its international cruise operations as competition intensifies within the global cruise sector.
However, the rollout of Disney Adventure’s early sailings has reportedly faced several operational issues and delays since launch.
The latest incident adds further pressure as Disney continues preparing for large-scale fleet expansion over the remainder of the decade.
