LOT Tests Wi-Fi on Dreamliner as 2 Aircraft Go Live

LOT Polish Airlines has started rolling out internet access on board its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, with the service now available on two aircraft. The airline began introducing the system in March and the latest test was carried out on a flight from San Francisco to Warsaw.

The move marks one of the clearest signs yet that LOT is preparing a broader rollout of in-flight connectivity across its long-haul fleet. The airline has not said when all Dreamliners will be equipped, but the service is already live on a limited number of aircraft.

In-flight Wi-Fi has become a major selling point for long-haul carriers as passengers increasingly expect to work, stream and stay connected in the air. For LOT, the early deployment on two Boeing B787s suggests the airline is using the initial phase to test performance before extending the system further.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is central to LOT’s long-haul network, serving routes between Poland and destinations in North America, Asia and the Middle East. Adding Wi-Fi to the type could improve the experience on these longer flights, especially for business travellers and passengers making connections.

LOT’s decision to begin with a small number of aircraft is in line with how airlines often introduce new cabin technology. Connectivity systems on board can require antenna installation, software integration and operational checks, which often means a gradual rollout rather than a fleet-wide launch.

The airline’s test on the San Francisco to Warsaw route also shows how it is using one of its key transatlantic services to evaluate the product. Long-haul sectors give carriers more time to monitor reliability, speed and usability than shorter European flights.

While LOT has not shared technical details about the network or pricing, the rollout indicates that the Polish flag carrier is moving closer to offering a modern standard of inflight connectivity. For passengers, that could eventually mean internet access on more of the airline’s intercontinental flights.

The development comes as airlines across Europe continue to invest in onboard technology to attract premium leisure and business customers. For LOT, the current phase remains limited, but the initial launch on two Dreamliners suggests the airline is now actively building toward a wider service.
