Polish carrier LOT has taken delivery of another new Boeing B737-8 MAX, bringing the airline’s total MAX fleet to 28 aircraft. The plane, registered SP-LYI, landed at Warsaw Chopin Airport on 28 May.
The aircraft is the 10th of 13 consecutive B737 MAX jets ordered by LOT and features a new cabin interior and a seating configuration supplied by RECARO.
The arrival underlines the airline’s ongoing fleet renewal programme as it continues to expand and modernise its short and medium-haul operations. The latest delivery adds to a type that has become central to LOT’s narrow-body fleet.
LOT has used the B737 MAX to increase efficiency and update the passenger experience on routes across its network. The newer aircraft are designed to offer lower fuel use than older-generation jets and a refreshed onboard layout.
The airline has not released any further details on when the remaining ordered aircraft will arrive. The new delivery follows a series of recent additions as LOT continues to build out its fleet with the Boeing type.
The Boeing 737 MAX family has drawn global attention over the past decade, but it remains one of the most widely used narrow-body aircraft in service. For LOT, the aircraft has become an important part of its operations, particularly on European routes.
With SP-LYI now in the fleet, LOT has 28 B737 MAX aircraft in operation. The delivery marks another step in the carrier’s strategy to standardise and modernise its aircraft mix.
