Formula E Returns To Berlin With High-Stakes Double-Header

The Formula E World Championship heads to Berlin next week, as the iconic Tempelhof Airport circuit hosts Rounds 7 and 8 of Season 12 in a pivotal double-header weekend.

Set on a former airfield, the 2.374-kilometre Tempelhof track is known for its abrasive surface and technical layout, creating energy-sensitive racing that often produces some of the most strategic battles on the calendar.

Tempelhof Circuit Demands Precision And Strategy

The Berlin E-Prix has long been one of the most challenging stops in the championship, with its unique surface accelerating tyre wear and forcing teams to carefully manage energy throughout each race.

The circuit’s layout frequently results in tightly packed racing groups, where positioning and timing play a decisive role in the outcome.

Different Race Formats Across The Weekend

Round 7, scheduled for Saturday, will introduce Pit Boost alongside a six-minute Attack Mode, adding a new layer of strategic complexity. The feature is expected to disrupt the traditional peloton-style racing seen in Berlin, creating more dynamic and unpredictable scenarios.

Sunday’s Round 8 will return to a more conventional format, without Pit Boost but with an extended eight-minute Attack Mode, requiring teams to adapt their approach across the two races.

Strong Track Record For Citroën Drivers

Citroën Racing Formula E Team arrives in Berlin with positive momentum following a strong start to the season.
Nick Cassidy has been particularly successful at Tempelhof, securing three victories at the circuit in recent years. Meanwhile, Jean-Éric Vergne holds the record for the most pole positions and podium finishes in Berlin, highlighting his consistency at the venue.

The team has already secured a podium finish in São Paulo and a victory in Mexico this season, placing it in a competitive position as the championship progresses.

Key Opportunity In Championship Battle

Double-header weekends offer teams a crucial opportunity to maximise points, and Berlin’s demanding conditions make consistency essential.

With evolving strategies, new race elements and a tight championship fight, the Berlin E-Prix is expected to play a significant role in shaping the season.

As teams prepare for one of the most technically demanding circuits on the calendar, the focus will be on execution, adaptability and making the most of every strategic opportunity across both races.
