St Regis Hotels and Resorts has opened The St Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancun, a beachfront property north of Cancun on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. The new resort adds 160 rooms and suites to the area, bringing the brand’s signature butler service and design-led style to the Yucatan Peninsula.
The opening places the luxury brand in one of Mexico’s fastest-growing resort zones, where long beaches, calm waters and new hotel development continue to draw international travellers. The company says the property combines local culture with the style and service that have defined St Regis since the brand began more than a century ago.
The resort is aimed at leisure guests looking for a high-end beach break, with dining, wellness and family facilities set within a low-rise coastal setting. It also strengthens Marriott International’s luxury portfolio in the wider Cancun market, where established hotels and newer all-inclusive projects compete for premium visitors.
St Regis said the resort sits in Costa Mujeres, an area known for its quieter atmosphere compared with central Cancun. The location gives guests access to the Caribbean Sea while keeping them close to day trips, boat excursions and the wider attractions of the Yucatan Peninsula.
The brand said the property reflects its emphasis on tailored service and destination-led experiences. That approach has been central to St Regis expansion in recent years, as major hotel groups seek to capture demand for upscale stays in beach destinations that combine privacy with easy access to airports and tourism infrastructure.
Mexico remains one of the world’s most competitive luxury travel markets, with Cancun among the country’s strongest hotel corridors. The opening comes as travel demand to the region stays high, supported by international air links, year-round sunshine and a wide choice of resorts across the Riviera Maya.
For St Regis, the Costa Mujeres opening extends a global strategy focused on iconic destinations and personalised service. For Cancun, it adds another premium option at a time when the region continues to position itself as a leading international beach destination for both short breaks and longer luxury stays.
