LXR Hotels & Resorts has officially entered the Greek market with the opening of Sandblu Santorini, LXR Hotels & Resorts, marking a significant expansion of Hilton’s luxury portfolio in one of Europe’s most sought-after island destinations.
Perched above the dramatic black-sand shoreline of Kamari, the newly rebranded property introduces a more design-led, experiential approach to hospitality on Santorini, blending high-end comfort with a strong sense of place.
The retreat features 66 rooms, suites and villas, each carefully designed to reflect the island’s Cycladic heritage. Interiors draw inspiration from Santorini’s volcanic terrain and the shifting light of the Aegean, combining natural textures with soft, minimalist forms that echo the surrounding landscape.
Rather than relying on traditional luxury cues alone, the concept emphasizes atmosphere and immersion. Spaces are curated to feel both contemporary and deeply rooted in local identity, with architecture and design working in harmony with the island’s unique geology and coastal views.
The opening also signals a broader trend among luxury hotel groups, which are increasingly focusing on boutique-style properties in iconic destinations, where storytelling and design play a central role in the guest experience.
For Santorini, already one of the Mediterranean’s most competitive hotel markets, the arrival of LXR adds a new layer to its high-end offering – targeting travelers seeking privacy, design, and a closer connection to the island’s natural environment.
As demand for experiential luxury continues to grow, openings like Sandblu Santorini highlight how global brands are evolving, moving beyond scale to create more distinctive, place-driven stays.
