One of London’s most iconic hotels is preparing for the return of the Chelsea Flower Show with a striking new collaboration. Claridge’s has partnered with The Newt in Somerset to bring a taste of the countryside to the heart of Mayfair this May.
Running from May 18 to May 31, the partnership will transform the hotel’s famous lobby into an immersive installation titled A Farm in Mayfair.
At the centre of the experience is a six-metre tower made from woven willow, crafted by British artisans and curated by The Newt’s team. The sculptural piece features a vertical procession of animals – including water buffalo, British White cattle, a stag, sheep and chickens – all rising toward a symbolic egg at the top.
The installation reflects themes of renewal and the natural cycles of farming and gardening, echoing the spirit of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Additional willow sculptures will frame the entrance to The Foyer restaurant and extend onto the hotel’s Art Deco façade, ensuring the transformation is visible both inside and out.
A taste of Somerset in Mayfair
Beyond the visual spectacle, the collaboration extends into the culinary experience.
Menus at Claridge’s will feature ingredients sourced directly from The Newt’s estate, including heritage tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella from its creamery and estate-reared British White beef and lamb.
At the bar, guests will be able to sample The Newt’s signature cyder, while a corridor lined with apples invites visitors to take a piece of the countryside with them.
Exclusive experiences and limited-edition touches
The partnership also introduces a dedicated stay package, offering guests a curated experience that includes bed and breakfast, a three-course meal in The Foyer and a selection of gifts from The Newt. Prices start from £1,220.
A limited-edition Claridge’s X The Newt tote bag will also be available both in-store and online, adding a retail dimension to the collaboration.
Celebrating London in bloom
The timing of the partnership aligns with one of the capital’s most vibrant periods, when London comes alive during the Chelsea Flower Show.
By blending rural craftsmanship with urban luxury, Claridge’s continues its tradition of transforming its lobby into a seasonal showcase – this time bringing the essence of Somerset farming into one of the city’s most prestigious addresses.
For visitors and guests alike, it’s a reminder that even in the centre of London, nature can still take centre stage.
