Emirates has announced the next phase of its fleet transformation, confirming that retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft featuring Premium Economy will begin operating on key routes to Beijing and Beirut in early 2026. More than a cabin upgrade, the move reflects a broader recalibration of long-haul travel – one where comfort, design, and value increasingly converge.
For travellers flying between Dubai and two of the airline’s most culturally and commercially significant destinations, the experience promises a new standard of refinement, bringing Emirates’ award-winning Premium Economy and next-generation Business Class cabins to routes that matter.
Emirates Premium Economy expansion strengthens long-haul appeal
The latest announcement places Emirates Premium Economy flights to Beijing and Beirut at the centre of the airline’s evolving global strategy.
From 6 January 2026, flights EK953 and EK954 between Dubai and Beirut will be served by refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft. From 1 February 2026, the same aircraft will operate flights EK306 and EK307 between Dubai and Beijing, marking another milestone in Emirates’ expansion of its latest-generation onboard products.
Beijing becomes the fourth destination in mainland China to welcome Emirates’ retrofitted Boeing 777, reinforcing the airline’s long-term commitment to the region.
This is not simply about adding another cabin – it is about reshaping expectations of what mid-tier premium travel can feel like on long-haul routes.
A refined four-class Boeing 777 interior
At the heart of this rollout is the newly refurbished Emirates Boeing 777, reimagined as a four-class aircraft with a distinctly residential, contemporary aesthetic.
Across all cabins, the design language is cohesive and intentional, featuring:
Modern, muted colour palettes
Natural wood finishes
Ghaf Tree motifs inspired by Emirati heritage
Each retrofitted aircraft includes:
8 First Class Suites
40 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout
24 Premium Economy seats
260 next-generation Economy seats
The result is an aircraft interior that feels less like traditional aviation design and more like a curated hospitality environment at 35,000 feet.
What defines Emirates Premium Economy
The growing appeal of Emirates Premium Economy lies in its ability to deliver tangible luxury without crossing into Business Class pricing.
Passengers can expect:
Wide leather seats with generous recline
Full leg and footrests
Adjustable headrests for long-haul comfort
In-seat power and charging points
Wood-finished cocktail tables
A 13.3-inch high-definition screen
Soft furnishings elevate the experience further, with plush pillows, blankets, and amenity kits on select flights. A standout detail is Emirates’ exclusive sparkling wine, Chandon Vintage Brut 2017, offered only in Premium Economy.
For many travellers, this cabin represents the ideal balance – indulgent, comfortable, and considered, without excess.
A new Business Class benchmark on the Boeing 777
For Beirut in particular, the upgrade is especially significant. This marks the first time passengers on the Dubai–Beirut route will experience Emirates’ new Business Class cabin on the Boeing 777.
The redesigned cabin features:
A 1-2-1 configuration across all seats
Direct aisle access for every passenger
Champagne-coloured leather upholstery
Soft stitching and cushioned headrests
Designed equally for work and rest, the space offers privacy without isolation, aligning the Boeing 777 experience with the airline’s flagship A380 standard.
Seamless global connectivity through Dubai
Beyond the onboard experience, the upgraded aircraft unlocks greater consistency across Emirates’ long-haul network.
For Beirut, the revised schedule offers smooth onward connections to cities with strong Lebanese diaspora communities, including:
Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane
New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago
Miami and Montreal
For Beijing, travellers gain access to a Premium Economy experience that extends across Emirates’ global network, including routes to:
London Heathrow and New York JFK
São Paulo and Johannesburg
Madrid, Malé and Lisbon
Key Gulf cities such as Riyadh, Kuwait and Amman
This continuity is increasingly important for premium travellers seeking consistency across multi-leg journeys.
Why Premium Economy matters more than ever
The introduction of Emirates Premium Economy flights to Beijing and Beirut reflects a wider shift in global travel behaviour. Travellers are no longer simply choosing between Economy and Business – they are gravitating toward cabins that offer space, calm, and quality without unnecessary formality.
Premium Economy has emerged as the sweet spot, particularly on ultra-long-haul routes where physical comfort and sensory design have a direct impact on wellbeing.
