Samsung has announced a new partnership with Turkish Airlines to bring SmartThings Find into the airline travel experience, launching a service designed to help passengers locate lost or delayed baggage. The Smart Tagged Baggage Service allows Turkish Airlines customers to track their luggage through Samsung’s location-tracking network, marking one of the first formal collaborations between a global carrier and a consumer electronics brand for digital bag recovery.
The system relies on Galaxy SmartTags placed inside checked luggage. If a bag goes missing, passengers can include a SmartThings Find link in their lost baggage report, enabling Turkish Airlines’ customer service teams to view real-time location data. With this added layer of detail, ground teams can more quickly identify where the item was last detected and accelerate recovery.
Samsung has also enabled passengers to personalise their luggage profile through the SmartThings Find app. Travellers can upload a photo of their actual bag using the Change Device Image feature, providing airline staff with precise visual identification to support tracking and reduce confusion at busy hubs.
SmartThings Find operates through a vast network of more than 700 million Galaxy devices, leveraging Bluetooth Low Energy and ultra-wideband technology to detect nearby SmartTags and relay updated location signals. The system is already used to track Galaxy phones, tablets, watches, earbuds and other devices.
The partnership with Turkish Airlines marks the debut of Smart Tagged Baggage Service, and Samsung says it plans to expand the programme to additional global carriers. The initiative aligns with growing industry interest in digital tracking solutions that can streamline baggage recovery and improve the passenger experience.
With this collaboration, Samsung is positioning SmartThings Find not just as a device-locator tool, but as an integrated travel utility — offering passengers greater visibility and reducing the uncertainty that often follows when luggage goes missing mid-journey.
