Iberia has signed a new codeshare agreement with Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines, expanding both airlines’ destination networks and strengthening air connectivity between Spain, Turkey and key international markets.
Under this partnership, Iberia passengers will gain access to new destinations across Turkey, seamlessly connecting via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to seven additional domestic routes: Izmir, Kayseri (Cappadocia), Ankara, Antalya, Dalaman, Bodrum and Adana. The agreement also enhances flight options for travellers linking Spain and Latin America with Turkey, reflecting Iberia’s strategic focus on network growth through alliances.
María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Chief Commercial, Network and Alliances Officer, said:
“This agreement with Pegasus Airlines reinforces Iberia’s commitment to offer more and better options to our customers, connecting Spain and Latin America with Turkey.”
In turn, Pegasus Airlines will place its flight code on Iberia-operated routes from Madrid to 11 Spanish destinations including Palma de Mallorca, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Málaga, Tenerife Norte and Seville, as well as Lisbon in Portugal and São Paulo in Brazil, allowing Pegasus passengers to travel across Iberia’s extensive network.
According to Iberia, the booking system automatically provides the required transfer time between Iberia’s flights from Terminal 4 and Pegasus flights from Terminal 1 at Madrid-Barajas Airport, ensuring smooth connections.
Emre Pekesen, Pegasus Airlines’ Director of Sales and Network Planning, commented:
“We are delighted to sign this new agreement with Iberia and offer our passengers better connections across Turkey, Spain, Portugal and Latin America.”
This partnership comes amid growing cooperation between European and Turkish airlines, further strengthening Madrid’s position as a global aviation hub linking Europe with Latin America and the Middle East.
